Hello all, you're bidding on a 1997 Firebird Trans Am Convertible with the WS6 package with leather interior that suffered a little accident (namely, having slid sideways into a telephone pole in the rain after narrowly missing some jackass who ran a stop sign). Would have gone after the guy, but I kind of got knocked unconscious for about an hour. Car still seems to run fine (it got me home after the accident), convertible top still goes up and down no problem, but there is obvious body and interior damage, as well as a busted passenger rear rim. *Please read below for shipping instructions*
Damage is mostly passenger side, dented in the door and the area under the door, possibly the frame, as well (I'm not sure). Right rear rim and tire are also damaged from where the wheel hit the curb and the car currently has a spare on. Car also appears to have developed an oil leak. It's been garaged for several weeks and there was a pool underneath the engine, but none in the driveway when I left it outside to take the pictures, so I don't know where it is coming from or how bad it is, but it appears to be slow.
Here's what needs to be done to repair the car as far as I can tell:
1)Replace the door, passenger rear view mirror, and glass (Picture 5)
2)Take to body shop to see if the frame has been damaged and at least pull the underside out flush (Pic 14)
3)Replace/repair the Passenger Rear Quarter Panel (it's bent at the door jam and runs all the way under the door) (Pic 14)
4)New windshield w/ repair of the passenger side border trim (Picture 6)
5)New trim attachment for driver's convertible latch hook (top currently has nothing to latch into) (Pic 7)
6)New rim for passenger rear wheel (Pic 23)
7)Oil leak?
I think the possible frame issue/rear quarter panel would be the most expensive to fix, as the quarter panel does run all the way under the door as best as I can tell.
New Cosmetic details (besides obvious):
1)Dashboard is crushed in where door impacted (Picture 8)
2)Crack in passenger side console (Picture 10)
3)Passenger side seat pushed toward driver against center console (Probably would correct with repair of the running board/frame) (Pic 12)
Cosmetic details that have been there awhile:
1)Someone painted over the Engine Maintenance light before I got the car and there is no odometer push pin (Pic 20)
2)Crack in the dashboard near the central vent (only one crack, middle of 3 lines, the other two are shadows from the windshield) (Pict 9)
3)Console storage compartment has no clasp (Pic 22)
4)Radio occaisionally cuts out when you hit a bump (a good thump will fix that)
5)Driver's side rearview mirror vibrates (part of the mounting bracket within the mirror broke, tried to fix it with JB Weld but didn't hold) mirror motor itself works fine
6)A couple of tears in the seam in the driver's side leather seat
7)Some leather breakdown at the outside edges of both leather seats
8)A tear in the seam in the top of the rear seating back (Pic 12)
9)Both headlight motors work fine, but driver's side makes a whirring noise after fully closing
10)Could use a new good paint job, some scratches and scuffs, never been repainted, but the rest of the (non-impacted) body is in great shape - just needs buffing/repainting
11)Radiator fluid light constantly on - sensor is bad, but never had a need to replace it as engine temp remains normal and no evidence of coolant leak (barely seen in Pic 24)
12)Some curbside scuffing/abrasions to remaining 3 rims (Pics 17-19)
13)Passenger side trim at convertible/rear quarter junction broken in half by carwash
Recent additions:
Rear brakes replaced in Fall 08
Fuel Pump replaced September 07
Convertible top replaced August 08
Rear axle bearings replaced November 05
Rear axle replaced June 06
Spark Plugs and cables replaced Summer 08
Passenger window motor replaced fall 08 (although who knows if it even works anymore if you were to salvage it)
Driver window motor replaced fall 07
(4) P245/50R16 Firehawk Indy500 Blk 96t tires placed at 121144 mile mark in 09/07 (3 of which survived the accident)
Stock motorized antennae replaced with non-stock motorized antennae in fall of 09
Overall, the car has served me well. I've owned it since around 2004 (bought it off this site from California) and it's been good to me, but I can't afford to fix these issues, and I don't have the time to properly part this thing out. If you've got a WS6 and need the parts, or you've got the resources to bring this baby back, then this is the car for you. It's got enough power to put some hair on your chest and I hate to see her go... |
